James Brown was right when he said that it was a man’s world. Being a woman in Ethipia is especially hard. NBC News has reported that kidnapping young girls has become a norm in Ethiopia. Almost 70% of marriages in Ethiopia are a result of abduction, and it is sadly very common in rural areas where the majority of the population lives.
A 12-year-old girl was abducted and beaten up by men. They were trying to forcefully marry her. She had gone missing for a whole week. Her worried family and even the police were not getting any close to finding her. That is when something amazing happened.
Officers found the girl near Bita Genet, and she was visibly bruised and beaten. But the most surprising part was that three lions had rescued her! They had saved her and had chased away her abusers.
According to Sgt. Wodnimu Wedajo of the police force, the lions stood guard over the girl until help came. After that, they quietly made their way into the forest.
Wildlife expert Stuart Williams thinks that the little girl’s crying might have led the lions to believe she was a cub.
“A young girl whimpering could be mistaken for the mewing sound from a lion cub, which in turn could explain why they didn’t eat her.”, said Williams
Now everyone in town is sure that this story was a work of God.
“Everyone thinks this is some kind of miracle, because normally the lions would attack people.”
Whatever the reason may be, you can’t deny that this story sounds straight out of a story book!
